Here is a little about myself. I’m a long haired piebald (black and tan), Dachshund. I spent the first 4 and a half years of my life stuffed in a tiny cage, neglected and kept pregnant. I never had any kindness shown to me and then one day I was taken to a shelter to be killed!

Luckily, a nice lady had pity for me and called a Dachshund Rescue organization. A nice lady came out to get me. I was very scared and I had no idea what was happening to me. When she came to get me she stuck her hand into the cage, not knowing what she wanted I nudged her hand with my nose. I was telling her to keep her distance. Not knowing if I could be “saved”, this nice lady from the rescue decided to take a chance on me anyway and took me home.

I was cleaned up and taken to see the Vet. I needed to have m teeth cleaned, get my shots and get “fixed”, so I would not have an more babies. I stayed in foster care for just a few months, before finding my very own forever home!

I now have a great family who love me and cherish me! They spoil me and I’m happy. I have a big yard to run around in, I sleep in the big bed and I have a brother and 2 sisters.

I started this site, because my family started helping other dogs after they adopted me, a way of “giving back”, because there were man people who helped me find a home. When my family started rescuing, there were no websites that explained how to rescue dogs. There were a lot of websites that delt with rescue and showcased different organizations, but not a “how to” site. There were also a lot of sites that talked about puppy mills and even advertised to contact their site to report puppy mills, only to find the sites only collected data for their own use. My site will tell you how to work against puppy mills.

Since there is no requirements to bring a dog into your family and there is not an owners manual, I will also talk about how to take care of dogs and how to train dogs as well.

I hope you like my site and I hope you come back often, as I will be adding new stuff all the time.

  4. I appreciate your, straight from your heart and clear purpose w your site.
Your point about well meaning people taking in dogs and being unaware that a loving household requires more than food, water, peeing and random attention.

Also, the opening page photo is beautiful.

  5. Thank you. A number of people have said to me that they wish some one would have told them about dental care, or nutrition. A few even asked me to start a web site. So, here we are. A web site dedicated to dogs. Ease come back often and tell your friends.

  7. I have been working for the past couple weeks to encourage GTA Pet stores to sign a puppy-free pledge. One particular store was brought to my attention: Pet’s Friends in Richmond Hill. Their puppies are purchased in Quebec, from a ‘breeder’ that ships puppies and kittens, of many different breeds, to stores.
I began a petition, and Facebook information page around the issue. I have had overwhelming support in the short time since I began.
We are hoping to raise awareness in hopes that more regions will follow in the footsteps of cities like Toronto and Mississauga in banning the sale of puppies and kittens in stores.
It would be wonderful to have your support on this issue.
Please help share our story – it would mean so much to have you behind us!
    Thank you for your time!
